Books to Inspire Your Home Organizing Goals

In recent years, there have been so many inspiring books published on the topics of organization and living a more serene life at home.

There’s now such an abundance of these books, which approach the subject from a variety of angles, that I have a basket brimming with inspiring and engaging reads.

I’ve always been an avid reader, so, on a typical weekend morning, you’ll find me curled up in my favorite Eames chair, sipping a latte, and reading a book. That book is usually on the subject of Scandinavian culture and design, interior decorating/design, organization, or living your best life. Most recently I picked up Joy at Work by Marie Kondo in which she applies her KonMari Method to our work lives and, with so many of us are now working from home, it’s all the more relevant.

Here is a list of the books that I’ve enjoyed and recommend:

  • The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: how to free yourself and your family from a lifetime of clutter by Margareta Magnusson

  • SISU the Finnish Art of Courage by Joanna Nylund

  • New Minimalism, Decluttering and Design for Sustainable, Intentional Living by Cary Telander Fortin and Kyle Louise Quilici

  • The Home Edit by Clea Shearer & Joanna Teplin

  • The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo

  • Spark Joy by Marie Kondo

  • The Little Book of Hygge (the Danish way to live well) by Meik Wiking

  • LAGOM The Swedish Art of Living a Balanced, Happy Life by Niki Brantmark
